After being part of the Showit community for a few years now, I’ve noticed that there are some common questions that come up over and over again. So, rather than you doing multiple Google searches, I’ve listed all those questions and their answers here in one spot.

The Most Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What’s Showit?
  2. Is Showit only for photographers?
  3. Does Showit have good SEO?
  4. Are Showit sites responsive?
  5. Is Showit good for blogging?
  6. Can I use Showit for free?
  7. What are Showit templates?
  8. Should I switch to Showit?

What’s Showit?

Showit is a 100% customizable (and code-free!) drag-and-drop website building platform. It’s a “What You See Is What You Get” platform, meaning that whatever is showing on the builder is very close to what you’ll see on the live website. This makes it fairly easy for people who aren’t web designers or developers to create a website on their own.

Is Showit Only for Photographers?

Showit initially started as a platform for photographers, and is still heavily marketed to them, but you don’t have to be a photographer to use Showit. Individuals and business owners in any industry can use Showit to build their website. Here are a few examples of non-photographer websites built with Showit.

Does Showit Have Good SEO?

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of making your website more findable by search engines. Your website becomes more findable when implementing certain practices, such as:

  • Using keywords
  • Creating relevant content
  • Properly assigning text tags and image labels
  • Adding outbound links to your posts
  • Having easy to understand and/or interest-piquing titles

SEO is critical in:

  • Increasing the amount of traffic that comes to your website organically
  • Building your authority
  • Creating a better and more accessible experience for your website visitors through well organized and labeled content

Showit is great for SEO as it comes with a number a number of built in SEO tools including:

  • Page SEO Settings
    • Page Title
    • Meta Description
    • Share Image
  • Website Content SEO Settings
    • Text Tags
    • Image Titles and Descriptions

Are Showit Sites Responsive?

Website responsiveness has to do with how a website automatically changes size to accommodate the size of the device screen that the website is being viewed on. Showit websites are responsive, and the mobile and desktop versions of a Showit website can be designed and built side-by-side.

Is Showit Good for Blogging?

In most cases, yes, Showit is great for blogging. Showit integrates with WordPress, so you get all everything that’s great about WordPress (widespread use, great SEO, etc.) with the design flexibility of Showit.

Can I Use Showit for Free?

Yes, you can use Showit for free two different ways: with demo mode or a 14-day trial.

The first way to use Showit for free is by using their demo mode. This will allow you to use the Showit backend without creating an account or signing up for anything. In demo mode, you can select a template to work off of and then adjust and customize the settings from there. Since you don’t actually create an account while in demo mode, none of the changes you create to the template will be saved anywhere. It’s best to use demo mode if you just want a quick, noncommittal overview of what working with Showit would be like.

The second (and most common way) to use Showit for free is with their 14-day trial. The trial period involves creating an account with an email and password, however no credit card is required. During the trial period, you can test out nearly all the features Showit has to offer.

A few things to note about the trial period:

  • If you need any help, you can reach out to the Showit support team in the chat box
  • Any changes you make to the template on your trial account will be saved. even after your 14 days are up. After 14-days, you will only be to access your template after signing up for a paid account
  • You will not be able to use any of the advanced settings, like custom CSS, during the trial
  • It’s not possible to publish anything during the trial period. You can only publish your website after signing up for a paid account
  • You won’t be able to connect a website domain or migrate an existing blog with a trial account

What Are Showit Templates?

Showit templates are pre-made website designs. Unlike themes and templates for other platforms, Showit templates are 100% customizable. Everything from the fonts, colors, and layouts can be customized.

Showit templates range in price from free to over $1200. If you’re looking to purchase a Showit template, Showit does have an official shop, however, they only sell templates designed for photographers, coaches, and podcasters. Need more variety? I also have a signature collection of Showit templates for industries ranging from boutique fitness studios to small-inventory ecommerce shops.

Should I Switch Platforms?

I’d highly recommend switching to Showit if you’re an individual or public figure, a service-based business owner, or fellow web designer.

Why You Should Switch to Showit

  • Code-free creative freedom
  • WordPress integration for blogging
  • Built in SEO Tools
  • Great support team
  • Supportive community of fellow Showiteers (Showit users)

Who Shouldn’t Use Showit

I wouldn’t recommend Showit if:

  • You have a product-based business
  • Blogging is the sole or primary purpose of your website
  • Your website is only going to be a single page
  • You’re looking for a more cost effective hosting plan
  • Want to have an eccommerce shop with 20 or more products

You Have a Product-Based Business

Showit doesn’t have a way to natively list products for sale on your website. To sell products on your website (physical or digital) you need to use a third-party platform like Shopify Lite or Thrivecart. Using one of these selling platforms will allow you to create buy buttons for your products to embed on your Showit site.

Blogging Is the Sole or Primary Purpose of Your Website

Although Showit integrates with WordPress, and is great for the casual blogger, I wouldn’t recommend Showit solely for blogging. This is due to several limitations with Showit including limits on the number of monthly blog visitors and integration options.

Initially created for blogging, WordPress is still the best option for bloggers who:

  • Have over 25,000 blog visitors per month
  • Need more than 20 GB of media storage
  • Have a need for more plugin options than Showit offers

Your Website Is Only Going to Be a Single Page

Having a single page website on Showit simply isn’t cost effective.

You’re Looking for a More Cost Effective Hosting Plan

Showit is more costly per month than Squarespace or self-hosting through a site like Bluehost. If you’re looking for a more cost effective hosting plan, it’s better to consider one of these alternatives.

Find what you need?

There you have it… answers to the most commonly asked Showit questions. Hopefully now you can decide if Showit is a good fit for you.
